Alterations
The Bridal Rail is one of the few remaining full-service bridal shops in Texas offering expert in-house alterations. Our seamstress, Amber Carter, boasts almost ten years of experience in bridal and special occasion alterations and spends every day creating magic for each of our customers. She has an incredible eye for detail and creates the most amazing one-of-a-kind alterations experience. Take a peek at some of her most recent custom pieces including full sleeves, built-up necklines, and perfectly placed sentimental patches below. Have something custom in mind, give us a call so we can discuss it. We love a good challenge! Our priority is, and always will be, making our brides’ gowns as beautiful and unique as they are!
After you say “YES” to your dream gown, gather your wedding shoes and under garments before booking your first fitting. We recommend starting alterations no later than 2-3 months before your wear date. Planning to do bridal portraits? Your wear date will then be your portrait date. The bridal alterations process generally takes 8-10 weeks, with an average of three fittings. Custom alterations require a longer timeline and more fittings, which will vary based upon the project. Bridal alterations range from $400-$550 for gowns purchased at The Bridal Rail. Pricing may exceed this amount if the gown requires extensive work, redesign, or custom work. Rush options may be available for an additional fee.
All other alterations including prom, bridesmaids, and mothers typically take 4-6 weeks with an average of two fittings. Custom alterations require a longer timeline and more fittings, which will vary based upon the project. Rush options may be available for an additional fee. Call to schedule your fitting and be sure to always bring your shoes with you.
Alterations are not included in the cost of your gown and will always be an additional cost. Please note, your gown must be paid in full before we begin any alterations. We do on some occasions, depending on availability, take outside alterations on gowns not purchased at The Bridal Rail. Please give us a call so we can discuss your alteration needs.
